Martha Zewdu Tegegn is an Executive Legal Firm Administrator and Senior Paralegal. She holds a BA in Journalism, with a significant concentration in Public Relations and Communication, graduating magna cum laude.

In addition to providing top-notch legal support, she brings exceptional public relations and executive-level experience, earning her the nickname “the encyclopedia of immigration procedures” for her deep and comprehensive knowledge. She has over 18 years of immigration law experience, with extensive expertise in asylum, family adjustment processes, consular processing, contract negotiation, and waivers, and is known for delivering outstanding, detail-oriented legal work at the highest level.

She serves as a trusted bridge between her community and the Garfield Law Group and is valued for her compassion, deep understanding of people, and unwavering dedication to client advocacy. She speaks English, Amharic, and Tigrinya, and has a strong command of French beyond a conversational level. She graduated from the University of the District of Columbia.

Martha’s passion for journalism began early. She was a national letter-writing competition winner in Ethiopia and received an Excellence in Journalism award during her college years. Throughout junior high school, high school, and college, she served as a student journalist, working in mini media at Bole Senior Secondary School, and later as a writer and copy editor for The Free Voice, the University of the District of Columbia’s student and faculty newspaper, as well as Trilogy, a student-run publication. She also contributed to local and cultural magazines such as Prince George’s Suite and Tadias Magazine. Through her journalism background, Martha developed extensive listening, writing, and information-gathering skills that continue to strengthen her legal work today.

Martha is deeply passionate about women’s health and is committed to supporting and advocating for women, particularly those who are breast cancer patients and survivors. In addition to her full-time role at Garfield Law, she enjoys spending time with her two beautiful children, writing articles, reading, and expressing her love for poetry and jazz. Her favorite words in every language are “Love” and “Peace.”
